It amazes me that market demand for the Snoopy figurine has been so steady. That lovable, comic strip beagle doesn't seem to have been slowed down at all by age. And the cartoons still make their rounds each year too. I watch "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" every single year just to get me into the spooky spirit of Halloween. It isn't officially the holiday for me until I've seen it. That's got to be what drives sales as far as the merchandise goes. The strip has such a tremendous following. And for so many years that it's become downright nostalgic.

Does nostalgia alone drive the craze for the Snoopy figurine? I don't think so. It certainly helps though. Along with the fact that the comic has become a multimedia adventure. There's the comic strip, the cartoons, the movies, the DVDs. It's unbelievable, the reach that this dog has. But what really makes the Snoopy figurine stand the test of time, I think is just the quality of the original work. Without this, the rest wouldn't be possible at all.
Kids must be very pleased with the way that turned out. Adults as well. I wonder which group loves the Snoopy figurine the most. Maybe the children go for the Peanuts strip and the cartoons more than the memorabilia. I don’t know. I haven't looked into it or anything. Just my gut feeling on the matter. It's not like you can play with a Snoopy figurine. So, it doesn’t really qualify as a toy. It's more something that adults can put on a shelf and smile at every once in a while. That's what I do with my collection of them. I have quite a few. Not to the point of getting really crazy. I don’t believe so, anyway. Just a shelf on a bookcase dedicated to my Peanuts memorabilia. It makes me happy to glance over every now and then and see them there. It does remind me of my childhood, when everything was simple. That certainly is a draw for them. But you can't escape the fact that they are undeniably cute either.
I don't descriminate against any of the other characters in the strip either. I have all kinds of Charlie Brown collectibles on my shelf. From the man himself, to Linus, to PigPen. I even have a limited edition statue of Woodstock, which I really love. They are all valuable parts of my collection, my youth, my life. Which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with money. I actually have no idea what any of them are worth. That's not why I collect. They are certainly valuable to me though. Especially several of the Snoopy figurine that I have. He is just cute.
